Built in 1776, under the name of Place Saint-Michel, it was the work of the architect Claude Fisco. This square is a proud representation of the neo-classical style.
It was during the Belgian Revolution of 1830 that this central square evolved : the first victims of the revolutionary fighting were buried there and the Martyrs' Monument was built.
Even today, Place des Martyrs holds an important place in the hearts of Belgians.
The Hotel Juliana Brussels offers a breathtaking view of this little piece of history.
